Progress 5/29

Unfortunately I ended up getting really busy the past few weeks with a number of other concerns that were pulling me away from working on my cards. I was able to get back to them this past week and wanted to post an update. I have completed all of the number cards and I have a rough placeholder for the aces. The aces may stay that way if I don't end up having time to go back and add more to them. The idea would be to put some cherry blossom patterns in them.

I have some rough sketches of the face card designs, I am going to try and get a few of those finalized this week. As far as artist inspiration for the designs, I haven't really chosen a particular artist. Instead, I have looked at some playing cards and have chosen that I want to adopt some of the design elements they use in their cards to the execution of my own original designs.

Here are the cards that I have completed so far. The bottom ones that are blank are where I will create the face card designs. I still need to decide how I want the letters to look for them as well, which is why they have numbers as placeholders.

I wanted to put all of the cards up as a full set now that they are all completed. I plan to work some more on the designs to add more detailed patterns, but this is a good starting point from which I can take the project further.

Finished Designs so far...

Last week, my wife gave birth to our baby girl. Due to some complications with her heart and lungs, our infant has been on oxygen for the last week and a half and may need to remain that way for a month or two. Since I have been dealing with all of this and trying to take care of my wife and other child, I have not made as much progress as I would have liked. I should have all but two cards left to complete the standard 52 card set. Unfortunately, I missed a few days of working on my designs while at the hospital. I still have five cards left to complete, but I wanted to share the designs that are already finished.
